Nice morning for our walk - sunny and 4 degrees.
Cleaned corn stove this morning. Damien and Payton here at 11 am. After their lunch we returned the Christmas tree we had purchased earlier and did some shopping for another. Did not find one that Ruby liked so we will have to have another go at it later. Damien & Payton told grandma not to be sad as Santa Claus will still come if she doesn't have a tree as long as we have some lights up. Into Noel's where we had supper with the grandkids and watched them while Noel & Tammy were gone shopping.

Day 89
Lots of frost this morning but warmed up a bit later.
Packed a load of wood in Noel's pickup and took it into Noel's for him to use in his fire pit next summer. Still a pickup load left there. Anyone want it - its free if you pick it up. Me & Noel in deer hunting after lunch but we got rained out and came out at 3 pm. Didn't see anything and nothing on the trail camera. Next week is gun hunting time again so we have to wait until thats over to hunt with our bows again. Noel, Damien and Payton here for supper. Ruby has nowhere to put all her Christmas things she insisted on bringing. We don't even have half the containers open and there's no room for anything else. We are going to let Noel and Tammy go through it and let them take what they want and I guess we will have a yard sell next year. We got to bring the new Christmas tree we purchased back as it's not working out. We tried to do something with it last night but couldn't get the tree to stay straight and the limbs are not strong enough to hold the decorations. Its a nice looking fiber optic tree and a good size for the trailer but we will have to look for another one.

Day 88
Saturday, Nov. 29/09 - cold & cloudy all day but cleared up in the evening.
Grandkids had us up early this morning. Noel & Tammy here around lunch time - they slept in this morning which they don't get to do very often. In hunting at 1 pm. Noel saw a doe just as he got up and settled in his tree stand but the doe saw him first and was to far away for a shot or I should say an arrow. It was the only deer we saw. There's lots of activity in front of Noel's stand where we have been putting feed for them as you can see from the pics below. The only problem its in the night time - check the times on the pics. Damien & Payton back here for supper with Ruby.

Day 87
No walk again this morning - cold @ 2 degrees with sloppy snow but none staying. Cold all day - I think winter is finally getting here.
Started looking for and sorting out Christmas decorations - still a ways to go yet. Over 30 turkeys in the field behind our place this morning. Me and Noel were into our hunting place to check my camera - had 18 pics but only got 2 pictures of a buck. Not sure what set of the camera for the other pics - nothing showing. Picked up Damien at school, picked up supper and Noel and Damien here with us for supper. Damien has a bit of a head cold. Tammy and Payton here after supper. Got Marlene's Christmas parcel today and Damien & Payton thanks Bruce, Marlene, Carla, Jeremy & Justin for the 'open now' Christmas gifts. They really liked them. Damien & Payton staying with us tonight for a sleep over.

Day 85
No walk this morning - raining but still warm - 9 degrees.
Installed some shelves in the kitchen cupboards beneath the sink and installed some larger shelves in Ruby's pantry. The more shelves the more she will buy - I'll never learn lol. After that went out and started splitting up the junks of wood from the trees we had removed. Got a bit over half done and will try and finish it tomorrow if the arms and shoulders hold up. They are doing a bit of aching right now.
WE ARE GOING TO NEW YORK.
Had a call yesterday from Pauline at Niagara Lazy Lakes Resort in Lockport, NY and she informed me that our name had been drawn for a chance to win $1000 and a 2009 Silverado pickup. We had filled out a entry form when we were to the RV Show in Toronto in October. We are to be at the resort at 12:30 on Dec 09/09 where we will get a tour of the resort, a $50 gas card, 2 prizes which we have already won and we get to pick a key and if the key fits the pickup we will own it. Not bad hey. She is sending me all the particulars in the mail. We are thinking about making a mini vacation out of it - leaving on Tuesday & sending the night in Niagara Falls - going to the resort on Wednesday and staying a night in New York and returning on Thursday or Friday.

Day 84
Very foggy and misty rain this morning and it lasted all day. Into Woodstock and then out to Stratford where we had brunch at Kings Buffet and did some shopping. Put up our new Christmas tree to see how it looked, looks good - no decorations yet. Into Noel's after supper to spend some time with the grandkids before their bedtime and to sit while Noel and Tammy worked.
Day 83
Very foggy this morning but still out for our walk. Cleared up before lunchtime and nice sunny day after that. Borrowed trailer from Adrian (park owner) and took limbs from trees down to end of park. Me and Ruby at it for awhile and then our neighbor Dave came over and me and him finished it up. Will have to buy a splitting axe tomorrow and then get at splitting the wood. Into Noel's after supper to watch the grandkids while Noel and Tammy were working.
Sunday, November 22, 2009
Day 82
No walking today - we take a break from it on Sundays and sleep in - after all we are retired.
Me, Noel, Damien, James and Hunter (James son) went in to our hunting place to check my trail camera. Only 4 pictures on it and they were ones of a tractor fertilizing the corn field. Not exactly what we were looking for - to hard to eat lol - the deer are getting camera shy. We moved my camera in where Noel's tree stand is and James set his up in another spot. We will check them again on Friday morning. Also, put out some bait (corn & apples) for the deer. Noel, Damien & Payton here for supper. Me & Ruby into Woodstock to the cinema after supper and saw the movie New Moon. Ruby is happy now that she finally got to see it - took awhile because it was sold out each time we tried before.

Day 81
Another walk this morning - cloudy but 9 degrees and no wind.
Just as we got back from our walk Noel and Damien got here. Noel dropped Damien off as he had to work and Tammy and Payton were gone to a birthday party. Tammy and Payton here after the party. Cut up the trees and packed up the limbs. Noel's $20 chain saw works great. Got to carry the limbs away and split the big junks of wood. Into Noel's for supper where Tammy had a great job done on BBQ'd steaks. After supper we all went into Woodstock for their Christmas Parade. The parade started after dark (6 pm) and the floats were really lit up. Beautiful parade with a total of 74 floats and bands. The grandkids really enjoyed it and to see the look on their faces when Santa Claus came was priceless and makes it all worth it.

Day 80
Got our walk in this morning - cloudy and 6 degrees.
After breakfast Ruby cleaned porch and we put everything back in place from the paint job yesterday. Then into Woodstock to return some items to Home Hardware and to check on getting tickets to see New Moon. No luck - movie sold out. When we got back I spent a couple of hours at the trees - limbing and cutting up. Got a nice bit done - hopefully will get back at it tomorrow. After supper listened to the DL Red Wings game on the internet - way to go Red Wings, got your first win of the season, keep it up.

Day 79
No walk this morning - raining but warm.
Yahoo - yipee - hooray - we finally finished the sun room and porch. Installed the window toppers, finished a little trim in he porch and painted the door on the inside, the trim, the ceiling and the walls in the porch. Its great to have it done. Still won't be bored though. Have to cut up and carry away the two trees that we had taken down, touch up the trailer inside for Christmas, clean up shed, put away lawn mower & wipper snipper, decorate, etc, etc, etc. Into Noel's after supper to watch the grandkids while Noel & Tammy worked. Jimmy and Caroline called us while we were there.
Me and Jimmy are having a hard time explaining how a pension works to Ruby - right Jimmy lol.

Day 78
Out for our walk before breakfast this morning. Nice and sunny. Into Noel's after breakfast to watch the grandkids while Tammy worked and Noel had a dental appointment. After that we went into Woodstock again to look for a different trim for the opening between our sun room and the porch. Having a job to get the right trim. Brought back two different trims which we put together to make a corner trim - it worked too. Ruby was painting as I was installing. Got it finished before supper. Tomorrow we just have to put up the toppers over the windows and the sun room will be finished - then we will tackle the porch. After supper into Noel's again to do some more grandparenting while Noel and Tammy worked. Still at it as I am entering this.
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
Day 77
Sunny today but cool.
Into Woodstock this morning and returned some trim and picked up some different trim. After lunch we installed the ceiling trim and the corner trim. Ruby painted the baseboard and the ceiling trim. Got my first retirement pay today - it feels good to get paid and not work lol. Ruby figures its half hers hey Jimmy. When we finished working on the sun room we went into Woodstock and had supper at Montana's. Tuesday night is our night for eating out unless we have to do some grandparenting, which we don't mind. Tomorrow we will try and do the trim around the opening to the porch.
Monday, November 16, 2009
Day 76
Out for our walk this morning - cool and cloudy but no wind - great for walking.
After breakfast we finished installing the baseboard that we could do for now. Took a while because of all the fitting and cutting. Ruby finished painting the window trim. Will have to buy some more corners etc before we finish it all but its only small pieces left to do. We changed our mind on some of the trim so we are going into Woodstock tomorrow morning first thing and return what we aren't going to use and pick up some different trim. Ruby wants the room all finished by this weekend - the pressure is on. And I thought I was retired lol. She doesn't want to be late for Christmas I guess.
Sunday, November 15, 2009
Day 75
Cooled of a bit today.
In to our deer hunting spot again after lunch - still no luck I think the deer are scared of us lol. Deer hunting open for guns up here next week so we can't bow hunt then. Will have to wait. I still have my trail camera set up and will check it next weekend. Ruby, Tammy, Damien & Payton out to do some shopping in Stratford. I don't know how they talked Ruby into it. Damien & Payton here for supper and Noel here after we got back from hunting. Will get back to installing the trim in our sun room tomorrow and hopefully finish it up. Ruby is getting the Christmas itch and wants to start putting up her decorations. Hopefully we can find it all.
Saturday, November 14, 2009
Day 74
Ditto on the weather - enough said hey - but I gotta say - T-SHIRT WEATHER AGAIN TODAY !!!
Cut up some of the trees that were taken down on Thursday. Three of us went hunting after lunch - from 1300 to 1800. No luck on the deer although I did have 4 turkeys come close to my blind - some would say that makes 7 turkeys in there lol. Could have had a shot at them but no turkey licence yet - hopefully we'll be at them next year. The grandkids here for supper with Ruby. Some pics below.
Friday, November 13, 2009
Day 73
I won't mention the beautiful sunny day we had again today !!!!!
Had to go into Woodstock first thing this morning to get some plumbing treatment - nothing serious, got it cleared easily. Installed some baseboard and corner trim and Ruby painted the window trims. Payton here for lunch. Into Noel's at 1445 to watch the grandkids while Noel & Tammy worked. Walked over to the school at 1530 to get Damien. When Noel got home at 1630 we went in to check our trail cameras that we had set up on Sunday. We had lots of pics of deer, raccoons, 1 coyote and a corn harvester. We got pics of three different bucks, one 12 pointer, and a few doe's. I've attached some pics. So there's a buck for each one of us lol. Noel and the grandkids here for supper. After supper into Noel's to do some work on his computer - clean it up and get his turbo stick working. Still some work required there.
Thursday, November 12, 2009
Day 72
Another great morning for our walk - frost last night but sunny and cool this morning - am I sounding like a broken record lol. Man we're having great weather.
Started installing baseboard this morning after our walk and breakfast. The grandkids here. The tree company showed up at 1130 and took down the 2 big trees - the grandkids had a great time watching the bucket truck and the large crane. They weren't long cutting the 2 trees and laying them on the ground in our 2nd lot. One man was back at 1400 with the grinding machine to grind away the stumps - it's quite the machine and did a great job. Now the works starts as I have to limb and cut up the trees and carry it away. I think Noel is going to take most of the wood for his fire pit. The patio was drove up on one corner by the roots of the trees so before leveling out where the stumps were, as most of it was all ready dug away, I dug away the ground around the patio post and block. Then I jacked up the corner of the patio to clear away the roots etc, lowered the block under the leg and let the corner of the patio settle onto the lowered block. Now we have a level patio - that corner anyway. Shoveled all the cuttings from the grinding machine back into the flower bed where the stumps were. With the trees gone we will get a lot more sun into our living room and it looks a whole lot better.

Day 71
Another great morning for our walk - frost last night but sunny and cool this morning.
Payton here with us today. Installed window facings around all the windows in the sun room today. Also, cannot use crown molding for the ceiling because of the way things are done between the trailer wall and sun room ceiling so we are going to go with a 1 1/2" trim there. Will have to return the molding and pick up some more trim. Hoping to get the baseboard done tomorrow and also get the trees removed.

Day 70
Here it is another beautiful warm day - trying my best not to gloat.
Into Woodstock this morning and picked up a deer caller - them deer are gonna get a bad fright this weekend lol. Pick up the grandkids at Rainbow Time and they helped me load the limbs and small trees i had cut into Noel's pickup. We took them down to the end of the park where they had burned the other limbs etc and burned them - a little bonfire anyways. Our baseboard, molding, etc arrived while we were gone this morning. Out to Kings Buffet in Stratford for supper and then into Noel's to check out his comp. Chris called while we were at Noel's and had a chat - it was good to hear from her. A deer ran across the road in front of us on the way home from Noel's.

Day 69
Guess what - another great day - sunny and 18 degrees. A great morning for our early morning walk.
Talked to the tree company, they will be here on Thursday after lunch to remove the trees - weather permitting. Talked to Nora at CBP&P concerning my pension - its like EI getting started - you have to wait a month and then you get 2 checks. Did some small jobs around the trailer and cleaned up the shed - still trying to figure out where to put it all. Keeps moving it around but still takes up the same space lol. Payton here at lunch time while Tammy worked. Into Woodstock after Payton left and picked out our trim for the sun room - base boards, crown molding, window facings, etc. Will be delivered tomorrow after lunch. The room will be finished when we get it all installed and then we will start on the porch. Paul called for a chat this evening.

Day 68
Don't mean to be bragging about the weather all the time (lol) but it was t-shirt weather here today. Warm, sun, no wind and 18 degrees. Hard to take.
Finished putting up the drapes and toppers in the sun room. Cleaned off roof - all the debris from the trees. Cleaned the leaves out of the eave troughs. Hopefully getting the trees remove will take care of it next year - if they ever show up to take them down. Installed antenna on the roof for our cell phone booster. Man that thing works great. We have 4 to 5 bars on our phones now and 4 to 5 bars on our internet stick. It increased from 1 to 2 bars - great.
Ruby had a great cooked supper again and Noel, Damien & Payton here for it. Tammy working but she gets her share as Noel takes some home for her.

Day 67
Another beautiful sunny morning. Nice and sunny all day - up to 16 degrees.
Into Woodstock this morning and picked up our shades and curtain rods for the sun room. Installed some of them. Me and Noel in and set up his tree stand , moved my blind and set up my trail camera. James came in after and we set up his trail camera in a different spot. We now have 2 tree stands, a blind and 2 trail cameras set up - the deer don't stand a chance lol. We will check our cameras on Wednesday to see if we got any pics. Noel, Damien & Payton here for supper. Listened to the Royals/Caribous game on the net. Red Wings loss another one in Grand Falls.

Day 66
Beautiful sunny morning, no wind but frosty, 0 degrees. Great morning for our walk. Nice and sunny all day but a little cool.
Into Woodstock and picked out some curtains for the sun room. Went to Blinds Are Us first to check them out - wanted $2200 dollars for 4 curtains. A bit much we figured lol - had a good laugh about it though. We found some nice ones at Home Depot and they let us take a couple home to see how they look - they look great with Ruby's toppers. Will take them back tomorrow and get the shades cut to fit inside the window boxes.
Also bought a trail camera, Noel bought a tree stand yesterday, so we are ready for the deer when the bow hunting opens again in a weeks time - its gun only up here right now. We are going in tomorrow after Noel gets off work to set up his tree stand and the camera. Hopefully we'll get some pics of some deer.
Listened to the DL Red Wings hockey game on the internet. They aren't doing much with it so far but I'm sure they pick it up later on - hope so!!!!!

Day 65
Rain this morning. We had rain, hail, snow & sun today.
Put another coat of paint on the sun room walls before breakfast, cleaned up and put everything back in place. Saw 3 deer in the field back of the trailer while we were painting - can't go hunting there though. In to pick up the grandkids after breakfast and took them for lunch, MacDonald's of course, and then took them shopping with their monthly allowance from us. They loved it.
Forgot to mention that Tammy has another job - started last night. It's milking cows but at another farm. She as 3 jobs now which means we get to spend more time with the grandkids - great hey.

Day 64
Cool but nice this morning. Did our hour walk before breakfast. After breakfast we started to get the sun room ready to paint. Some moving around some furniture again and covered the rest. We painted the walls with primer and the ceiling with flat ceiling paint before supper. Had to take Payton outside while we were painting. Didn't want her to be in the fumes. After supper we painted the walls green. Will need another coat tomorrow. Noel out for a visit.

Day 63
Sunny and cool early this morning but rain showers after, we even had a hail storm in the afternoon. Me and Ruby into Woodstock this morning and then in to Hickson to pick up Damien and Payton from Rainbow Times at 1130. Did some work on Noel's $25 power saw and got it running - will have to get a file and spark plug for it. Trimmed some bottom limbs off the 2 trees on the front lawn and trim the side limbs from the tree near the driveway. Also, trimmed the top of the hedging on the back of the trailer. The company still hasn't shown up to remove the 2 large trees.

Day 62
Sunny morning but cool (5 degrees). We got our hour walk in this morning. Tammy brought Payton here at 1130 and she was here until 1500. Into Woodstock and picked up the paint to do the sun room. After supper into Noel's to see the grandkids and picked up his power saw. Will see if it works tomorrow. Will cut some trees and trim the bottom limbs on some others on our lots. Also, will cut up the big trees once we are get them taken down - hopefully the company will be here this week to do the job. Received the cell phone booster that I ordered on Friday from Ebay. Seems to work good, my phone went from 1 bar to 3 or 4 bars with the antenna in a window. Should be much better when I get it installed on the roof. Ruby said her phone went from 2 bars to 6 bars although there are only 5 bars on her phone - so it must be a really good booster to add another bar lol.

Day 61
1st day of retirement not to bad. No sleeping in though - the grandkids were up at 0545. They seem to have forgot that the clocks went back last night. Even though they were up late last night because of Halloween they still wake up at they same time in the morning. We had a great day with them here with us all day. Ruby and Payton made some cookies for dessert tonight - Payton had a great time wearing her cookie suit (apron) she called it. I took them for a walk to the top of the ski hill where they had a ride on a golf cart. A man living here in the park was up there with some apples for the deer and he gave them a ride. There's lots of trails up there and all mowed too. They phoned Ruby from up there and told her we were lost lol. Noel picked them up at 1400 and took them home to see Tammy before she went to work and then Noel and the grandkids were back for supper. I guess we will have an early night tonight.
Hey Helen be sure to load the manual etc that came with your camera - there's a lot of info on the operation of the camera in there. Check out where to store the lens shade - no need to keep it in the camera bag.
