Rain for most of the day today but cleared up and sunny now and 18º.
Down to Paul's for another turkey dinner - lots of turkey lol. When we got back home we relaxed and caught up on some things such as this blog lol.

After breakfast I got my gear and our food, etc ready for our trip to Dan & Vera's camp at Portland Creek. After Bruce got home from work me, Bruce & Spencer (Bruce's brother's son) left for Portland Creek at 2 pm - arrived there at 4 pm. Then went to MountainView Park where they keep their boat and had a great boat ride (7 miles) to their camp. Had supper and then Dan took us to Brian's Feeder for some salmon fishing. No luck - Bruce rose one. While we were gone Vera caught a few nice size trout. Played a few games of darts when we got back to the camp.

After a big breakfast we went over to Brian's feeder again - still no luck but Spencer had one on but lost it. Ruby down to Wallace Ball's funeral and then her and Kim went to Corner Brook shopping - I don't think either one likes shopping very muck lol. Back to camp for lunch and a rest and then had a BBQ for supper. Then Dan took us up Inner Pond to The Bottom for some more fishing. Me & Bruce each had one on but lost them too. Lots of fish there but they weren't taking. A few more games of darts when we got back to camp.

After breakfast Dan took us back to The Bottom but still no luck - only seen a few jump. 1st time since we been going to Dan & Vera's camp (8 years) that we did not land a salmon. When we got back to camp Vera had a great feed of trout cooked for dinner - some good. We left after lunch to return home and got home at 4:45 pm. No fish but still a great trip. Had a fire at the resort in the evening.

After breakfast we packed some gear and left for Cow Head where we met Donnie & Doris White at their cabin on the Head. They haven't checked their cabin for a few years (they live in Montreal) and it was in good shape. We then went to Shallow Bay for an outdoors lunch. Then got a 2 bedroom cabin at the Shallow Bay Motel for the night. Got set up and then went for supper at the Shallow Bay Motel and then went to see a show (Winter) at the warehouse theater - great show as always. After the show we did some relaxing and enjoyed the great view and nice warm evening.

Me & Donnie went to Rock Harbour and pick up a few things for his cabin. When we got back to Cow Head we had a great breakfast on the cabin patio - beautiful morning. After breakfast we went out on the Head to their cabin and installed some rebar rods to mark their land boundary as the wooden fence is falling down and they did not want to lose their corner marks. Also did some minor work on the cabin. We then went for a walk on the Lighthouse Trail. Donnie & Doris then did some visiting with some friends and me & Ruby went to Rocky Harbour to visit Rodger (Ruby's former boss) & Colleen Young. Colleen was home but Rodger was at his boat so after a visit with Colleen we met Donnie & Doris at the Oceanview Motel for supper. After supper Donnie & Doris left for Deer Lake and we went back to see Rodger. After that we left for home and got home at 8:45 pm. Fire at the resort then.

After breakfast we went down to Deer Lake to see mom as she had to be taken to the hospital last night from their trailer at Little Bonne Bay pond as she was not feeling well. Everything checked out ok and she was back home when we got there. After we got back Helen had a turkey supper with all the trimmings ready for us and some family and friends - great meal - thanks Helen. After supper we sat around chatting and then had another fire.

Mostly cloudy with some sunny periods here today, windy and 18º. Its 12º here now.
Relaxing this morning. Mona & Dave here after lunch. Then we went to Corner Brook with Bruce and Marlene to pick up our supplies for our fishing trip. Got treated to supper - thanks. After we got back home we went to Deer Lake to Cal's and watched the Strawberry Festival fireworks.

Sunny with cloudy periods today and 22.
Had breakfast with Bill and Ruth-Ann and them took them over to the Gros Morne kiosk in Wiltondale. They got set up there for their travels we returned home. Ruby then down to Jungle Jims for Jerica & Jenica's birthday lunch. Went to Deer Lake with Earl. Getting ready now to go to Deer Lake for some festivities.

Out for a walk this morning. Down to Deer Lake after breakfast. Ruby out for her walk after lunch. Back down to Deer Lake to meet Bill & Ruth-Ann - a couple from Tavistock, ON. Bill was a fellow bus driver and it was their first trip to NL. Brought them back to HEW Resort where they set up the motorhome for the night - we have quite the host & hostess here at the resort. We then took them to the Strawberry Festival in Deer Lake. After that we returned to the resort where a fire was going and we ended out the night around the fire.

Out for a walk this morning. After breakfast Ruby was out for her walk. I booked all the campgrounds for our trip back in August. Ruby did a great cooked meal complete with steaks and gravy for us and Helen, Earl & Wendy. Helen & Earl stayed for awhile after supper for some chatting.

Out for a walk this morning. After breakfast I trimmed and mowed the resort lawn. Ruby out for her walk. Ruby then went to Helen's weight class with her. When Earl got home from work we went to the motel and met the women there for wings.

Day started out sunny but clouded over and some rain in the afternoon and 23º. Its 18º here now.
Up to the island fishing this morning - 12 people and 6 quads. Used Earl's boat to ferry them across to the island. Wilf and Tim came up after. So 14 fisher persons and 4 salmon landed for the day - not good fishing but still a great day. Thanks to Earl for letting me use his quad and boat. Ruby and Helen out for their walk when Helen got home from work.

Yahoo finally got a nice sunny day and 24º. Its 20º here now.
Went to mom & dad's this morning for dinner with most of the family. Out to Rick & Kim's to have a look at the Honda motorcycle he just bought - great looking bike. Chad there on his bike too. After that we went to Deer Lake Park to have a look around and talked to Marge there. Also talking to Brenda & Dean on the way home who were out for a walk with their granddaughter, Tiffany. Relaxed and watched a movie when we got home.

Cold, windy and some rain here today and 12º.
Ruby and Helen out for their walk. We went to Deer Lake after lunch to pick up a few things and dropped in to Paul's and Mom's. I had my walk on our way back home. Getting ready to go to Reg & Louise Pittman's 50th wedding anniversary now. Could be a late night lol.

Out for a walk this morning. After lunch over to the golf course for a game of golf with Jerry Rumbolt. Then we were up to Marlene & Bruce's for Jeremy & Justin's birthday supper - Justin wasn't there (working) so we will have to have another one tomorrow. Helen & Wendy also there and Earl up later as he had to work late. Merril, Nancy & Judy showed up after supper and Rhoda there later. Just getting home now and off to bed.

Did some more work on Dean's pressure washer this morning and cleaned up an oil spill in Earl's garage. Ruby went to Deer Lake shopping. I was up to Bruce & Marlene's for supper and Ruby went out for wings with Helen and the girls. She came up to Marlene's after she got home. Just getting home and time to call it a night.

Raining all day here today and 18º.
Out in Earl's garage working on Dean's pressure washer today. Dean here. Bruce helped out after lunch. We managed to get it working somewhat but not a lot of pressure from it. Everything looks good but cant get it working like it should. Bruce & Marlene had supper with us. Relaxing now.

In Deer lake this morning and Bruce picked me up and we went to Corner Brook. Into mom & dad's when I got back. Ruby out for her walk. Helped Dean & Chris take down their hardtop after I got home. Helped Earl fix a crack in his quad's front fender guard after supper. Marlene & Bruce here for a visit in the evening.

Day 678
Day started with rain and wind. Cleared up but very windy and 17º. Its 14º here now.
Went to the motel this morning for breakfast with Chris & Dean. Spent the rest of the day relaxing. After supper me, Bruce & Earl went up to the island salmon fishing - still no fish. I had one on for 5 minutes or so but loss it. Also rose another one so i'm getting close lol. Paul & Alice here for a visit while I was gone.

Me, Bruce & Earl up to the island salmon fishing in the morning - no luck. Stopped at the Drillhole on the way down for a try - still no luck. Fish are scarce. Had a BBQ for supper and lit a fire after but had to move to Earl's garage due to the rain. Chris and Dean stayed in their camper at the resort. Rain and windy overnight. Waited for Wendy to get home from Salmonfest (Kiss) in Grand Falls before we called it a night.

Bruce took me up to Drillhole salmon fishing this morning. No luck - saw lots of fish and rose a couple but they were not taking. Had trouble with Bruce's quad running hot on the way down - oil cooler plugged with mud - cleaned up when we got home. In the afternoon I trimmed the lawn here at the resort. Ruby and Helen out for a walk after supper. We then visited Marge and Wilf.

Beautiful, sunny warm day here today and 27 degrees. Its 27 degrees here now.
Out for a walk this morning. Ruby down to Deer Lake and had lunch at the Motel with Chris and then did some shopping. After breakfast I set up the TV satellite etc. Did some more walking around Reidville and talk to a few people. After supper I went to Deer Lake and picked up my salmon license. Ruby went with Helen to her weight class and they are going out for wings after. I'm waiting for Earl to get home as we have not seen him yet as he was up to St. Anthony trying to paint road lines but raining there.

Left Irving Station near St. Fintan's at 0630 and arrived in Deer Lake at 0830. Fueled up and then went to mom and dad's for breakfast. After that we went to Reidsvile and set up at HEW Resort - great resort by the way. So good to see all our friends and family. Just got home from Bruce & Marlene's.

Left Camper's City RV Resort in Moncton this morning at 0430 (Marine Atlantic moved up our reservation so we had to get there earlier). We had one stop along the way and arrived at Marine Atlantic in North Sydney at 1105. Got on the boat at 1415 and sailed at 1515. We were on the new boat - Highlander - quite the ship and service and food were excellent. Got into Port-Aux-Basque at 2115 and got off a little after 2130. Drove as far as the Irving on the TCH near St. Fintan's and we are now stopped there for the night.
