Day 106

Wednesday, December 16 2009
Cold with snow flurries all day. I was into Woodstock today to get my Christmas shopping done. Saw 7 deer cross the field back of our place at around 5 pm. Got a shot of some but snowing and getting dark at the time. Into Noel's after supper to pick up the grandkids, they are here for a sleepover. They kept us busy all evening playing games etc.

Day 105

Mild here this morning but cooled day as the day went on.
Got the new generator up and running today. Hooked it up to the trailer using the cord that came with it plus one from our motor home. Everything worked ok - ran the fridge, corn stove and furnace no problem. We are now ready for any blackouts that come our way lol - hopefully we won't have to use it but you never know. We are after having 4 power outages since we moved here - 1 was 45 mins long. Out for our Tuesday supper night - Boston Pizza this time.

Day 104

5 degrees here today and rain.
We were into London today to try and finish up our Christmas shopping. Lots of shops in there but you know how it is - you never get all the shopping done this early lol.

Day 103

Sunday, December 13 2009
Freezing rain and rain most of the day today.
Me and Noel could not go hunting because of the weather and we were going to make a trip to Bass Pro but decided against it because of the freezing rain. Ruby was doing some Christmas cooking all day - cookies and cakes. Noel, Damien & Payton here for supper.

Day 102

Beautiful sunny day here today, 2 degrees. Feels good after the 2 very cold days we just had. Into Woodstock this morning and got my seasonal flu and H1N1 shots. Ruby still sick with the flu so she could not get hers - they have another clinic on Thursday so if she feels better she may get them then. Me and Noel in to check our camera and to do some hunting after lunch. No luck again with the hunting - no sign around my blind but lots of sign around Noel's stand. Had to do some repairs on my tent blind after the high winds - got a few tears in it. We did not get any pics of deers (the camera is set up by my blind) but we got lots of the bad weather and some of a grouse which was eating the corn in front of my blind. Damien and Payton here when we got back. After they left we listened to the Red Wings & Cataracts game - way to pull one of Deer Lake - keep it up.

Day 101

Very cold and windy today - not much snow down on the ground here though.
Into Woodstock today and returned the LP Generator we purchased on Monday and purchased a gas 3000 watt one they had on sale. Going to hook it to the trailer when we get a good day and see if it can run the corn stove, furnace and the fridge - should be able to. We will then have a backup to keep the place warm in case we ever lose our power here. Into Noel's after we got back. Noel had to come home from work because of the stomach flu - throwing up. Payton is sick with the same thing. Ruby is also sick again with the sore throat and sinuses.
Some good news - Noel may get to transfer from the Toyota plant in Cambridge to the new one in Woodstock after Christmas as they are adding a 2nd shift there. It would be great as the Woodstock plant is a lot closer and would cut way down on his driving time. Wish him luck.

Day 100

Can you believe it - it's been 100 days already since we left home - my how time flies.
A skim of snow in Niagara Falls this morning and very windy. After another buffet breakfast (gotta love'em) we headed home. Lots of wind while driving and as we got closer to home it got colder and a little more snow. We arrived home at 1230 pm. About 2" of snow on the ground but being blown around by the high winds. Our first taste of winter up here. All kinds of reports about the big storm but nothing to it here.
The shots below were taken from our room window.
